Well I failed to review 'Cloverfield' when I saw it the first time cause well it hadnt came out here yet, either time I watched it to be honest (the 2nd time was so my mother could watch it)
Some of it is funny, though my mother asked "how long til he goes to Japan?"
She had read the review of it in some paper and that's where she thought it all went down... shows what you learn off of reviews don't it.
I do suggest it as a film to see, it's good enough for me to sit through twice.
My friend told me that it wasn't all hand held camera... he didnt know that i had already seen it and it is all hand held as the film is a classified document belonging to the government, so the set up of it is good. It just amuses me what people think they know about films when they haven't seen it yet... once again blaming word of mouth or believing reviews.
I just didn't like the relationships between the characters you are stuck with throughout, i don't care for Rob or this girl he's going to save. Its a life or death situation and he's off rescuing some girl... oh please... going to rescue your child, i would have went with (perhaps cliche) going back to rescue your dog even yeah i'd get that...(look at Lynette in Desperate Housewives going after that cat in the twister, i got that...)
and then theres the dude who films it all, he takes his second hand job seriously... why does he follow rob either, or the girl at the going away party who didn't know anyone she went with them too. I know the entire thing isnt really plausible but the factors that could be were not.
The monster itself... well if you've seen Star Wars Episode 2 Attack of the clones then you would have already seen a smaller version of it.

Well disappointed with it but it's not terrible, do go and see it if you like that sort of thing.
