Peace Child...

by the_real_linda @ Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2007 - 18:39:21

So we got there (my sisters school) and the place seemed diserted... why? Cause all the proud parents were already in the hall so we stood at the back... and i hadnt brought my glasses so couldnt really see too well.

But anywhos the peace child was there for all of 45 seconds then all the children were dressed up as if they were extras in 'The Mighty Boosh'

 and sang African songs.

My sister was a builder of some sort and said a few lines to her builder buddy and then they carried things across the stage...????

Yeah that went on for a little too long... but bonus thing was before she went on I was making her crack up by generally waving my arms around like a loony at the back of the hall... she had to turn away from me so she wasnt laughing as she got up to the stage.... Oh cruel sister that i am

It all had something to do with the peace child bringing unity to two tribes who didnt get along before then my sisters best mate sang some sad song when she had to sacrifice her child to the tribe (!) or something...

then they all got together and YAY! it was over as they re-sang some song from earlier. Some one who had snook in the side door (where we were) asked why they wernt singing 'We Wish You A Merry Christmas'? Good question...

Anywho I hope all other people enjoy their childern or siblings or whatevers Christmas Play's as much as I did...

(I'm off to watch the 'Labyrinth'....http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0091369/

Peace Child

by the_real_linda @ Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2007 - 13:08:45

It's my sisters school play this afternoon... called as you've guessed 'Peace Child'.

Well the name alone makes me laugh, and not in a good way... peace? Really? Well if I remember what I was told at Primary School is that didnt some King... Herod I think it is... yes King Herod ordered lots of babies to be killed for fear of this 'peace' child was going to usurp the throne? So pretty much straight away not so much with the deliverance of peace there.

Not to mention everything else carried out in the name of 'Religion'.

And why the heck am I not going to see a straight forward nativity today? Sure I aint no Christian but to me being in or going to watch the nativity is a tradition... but oh ye gods may someone be offended at this, dosent changing it offend Christians? Or is nobody bothered about them? I see it as a story nothing more, nothing less...

I mean I should have seen that something wasn't a bit on the up and up when I was in Primary School and we did a Geordie Christmas (no jokes please) but it was still the nativity story just with some kids overdoing the Geordie accent... and I danced to 'Saturday Night' and 'The Macarena' but still it was all Nativity-y.
